For companies operating in hazardous areas, being able to accurately locate personnel and assets in real time improves worker safety, increases productivity, and reduces lost time.
Extronics is the exclusive global provider of AeroScout products and solutions for industrial customers, as well as developing new RTLS products for use in hazardous areas and harsh environments.
Extronics and AeroScout first joined forces back in 2005, with Extronics developing versions of key AeroScout products that were suitable for use in hazardous area applications, as well as providing hazardous area certified wireless deployments.
In 2015, Extronics took over the development, sales, and support of AeroScout solutions for industrial customers after signing an international agreement with STANLEY Black & Decker, owners of the AeroScout technology. STANLEY Healthcare continues to provide AeroScout RTLS for healthcare customers and we work closely together to develop the technology further, signing a new multi-year partnership agreement in 2018.
Each solution is individually tailored to suit your application, using these basic building blocks:
The exact components may vary, depending on the type of site, size of project, and required system capabilities – for example, man down alerting or tightly defined location accuracy. Our tags and tag exciters are available in ATEX, IECEx, and North American hazardous area certified models as well as industrial models, so you can use the same system across the whole of your site safely.
Active RFID tags contain their own batteries and transmit their ID signal at regular intervals, without needing external prompting. We have a wide variety of active RFID tags for tracking both assets and personnel, in a range of form factors. We also have some tags specifically designed for monitoring temperature, humidity, and voltage.
Tag exciters use LF to trigger tags as they pass through, go into or out of a tightly defined area (e.g. a chokepoint, egress/entrance point, room, sub-room, bridge, stairwell). That means that tag exciters help our RTLS pinpoint the exact location of people or assets, and even raise alarms if needed.
The MobileView visibility platform enables you to track, locate, monitor, and manage your assets and personnel from a single platform. With purpose-built applications for personnel and asset management, evacuation monitoring, and condition monitoring is the industry’s most advanced end-user application for Real-time Visibility Solutions, adding a critical layer of business logic automation to all of an enterprise’s location, status, and condition data. Turning the information gathered from tags via the Wi-Fi network into real business solutions; delivering sophisticated mapping, rules-based alerting, and reporting functions in a scalable, proven software platform.
AeroScout systems use standard Wi-Fi networks as a core infrastructure to pass wireless signals from tags to the network. The same Wi-Fi networks can also be used for other Internet of Things solutions, such as data and voice services.
We have partnered with leading WLAN equipment vendors to ensure that their industry-leading wireless networks are compatible with AeroScout systems. Examples of AeroScout-compatible networks include Cisco, Aruba, Aerohive, Extreme Networks, HP Networking, Huawei, ProSoft, Rajant, Ruckus, Siemens, and many more.
If your application involves hazardous areas, Extronics’ iWAP range of universal wireless enclosure systems enable you to deploy the Wi-Fi network of your choice throughout your site.
To make sure you remain fully operational, we offer a Maintenance & Support Plan with every solution. Each plan includes technical support from our trained engineers, access to the latest product updates for the best performance, and rapid exchange of any defective hardware.
