The iTAG XB Range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) location tracking tags is a cost-effective option for customers looking to deploy a tracking system capable of locating people and assets throughout hazardous areas.

The tag range offers a rugged set of tags and anchors in several different form factors to suite your application.

BLE Options

There are several different types of BLE available and depending on what you want to do with your system will ultimately dictate which way you decide to go. Our iTAG XB range supports the main protocol options, including: Eddystone, iBeacon, Wirepas and Quuppa.

What Level of Accuracy Do You Need?

It is important to decide what level of accuracy you require. This will help determine how many BLE anchors you need and where to install them on your site. Do you need to know if a person or asset is Present on site, located in a certain Area, or in a specific Location?

Location

You need to think of location accuracy in terms of how each type works. Wirepas, Eddystone and iBeacon use RSS (Received Signal Strength) to approximate location, like Wi-Fi or other radio technology the accuracy that can be obtained using this method depends on how many anchors you have installed.

As a rule of thumb, a location anchor approximately every 25 metres will result in sub 10 metre location accuracy. If you were to increase the frequency to every 15 metres, then you could achieve approximately 5 metres location accuracy. It is important to note that the physical environment will also have an impact on accuracy.

Quuppa uses Angle of Arrival (AoA) location where the receiver is mounted on a ceiling above where the tags are located and can achieve sub 1 metre, even 0.5 metre location accuracy in some cases. AoA measures the angle or direction a BLE transmitted signal approaches a Bluetooth receiver.

Hybrid RTLS

If you are looking to deploy a tracking solution that covers large open spaces, built up or indoor spaces covering multiple hazardous areas, then the iTAG XB range of tags can be used alongside our iTAG X-Range of hybrid location technology tags. BLE anchors can be used to trilaterate the X-Range tag worn by the person or asset providing increased accuracy as part of the hybrid solution.

Quuppa AoA

Quuppa

We also offer a range of BLE asset and personel tags that use Quuppa AoA. Quuppa uses AoA (Angle of Arrival) location where the receiver is mounted on a ceiling above where the tags are located and can achieve a sub 1 metre, even 0.5 metre location accuracy in some cases. AoA measures the angle or direction a Bluetooth Low Energy transmitted signal approaches a Bluetooth receiver.
