New UPS for ATEX Zone 1 Hazardous Areas
Extronics launch modular UPS system for ATEX Zone 1 Hazardous Areas. A new system that can provide up to 6kVA for 70 minutes.
Manchester, UK. 8th November 2011. Extronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment today announced the launch of its latest uninterruptible power supply system for hazardous areas, the iUPS101.
The iUPS101 range is suitable for use in ATEX Zone 1 areas and is designed to be wall mounted. Able to back up 230VAC power for up to 35 minutes, at 3kVA full load, the unit has a modular design which allows an additional battery pack to be integrated to double the backup time to a maximum of 70mins with a 3kVA load. This modular design also allows a complete additional iUPS101 unit to be attached to create a system which can deliver a maximum load of 6kVA for 70 minutes at 20°C ambient temperature.
“We have experienced increasing demand for our existing UPS products, particularly from the Oil & Gas sector” said Paul Lazor, Sales & Marketing Director for Extronics. “We believe the modular nature of the new system provides the necessary performance and flexibility to protect a wide range of equipment in ATEX Zone 1 & 2 hazardous environments. The systems are also able to operate in a wide variety of temperatures, with a recent requirement being for 55°C ambient.”
The Extronics UPS systems provide a range of backup power options designed to protect critical equipment such as servers, analysers and automation systems in the event of a blackout or brownout. With power options ranging from 75VA to 6kVA, the modular nature of the Extronics system is flexible enough to cover the vast majority of power backup requirements in hazardous areas.
The new iUPS101 was showcased recently at both the Offshore Europe Exhibition and Hannover Messe where it generated substantial interest, particularly from companies operating in high temperature environments.
