Extronics partners with CAEN RFID to extend UHF capability
Extronics, a leading global designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment, announced the first line of UHF RFID readers designed specifically for Hazardous Area.
With the iRFID100, the Extronics UHF RFID product range covers from basic identification needs to advanced tracking solution for hazardous areas.
Utilising the new iSOLATE500 RF galvanic isolator, the iRFID10x product range is certified for use in Zone 1 areas and has a read range of up to 30 metres.
“UHF RFID technology is set to revolutionise asset tracking due to its inherent performance advantages, particularly on metals & liquids.”, said John Hartley, Managing Director at Extronics “Read and write operations can occur without line-of-sight, at longer distance and improved speed compared to other passive technologies, thus allowing more efficient process automation.”
The new UHF RFID readers from Extronics were developed in collaboration with CAEN RFID, a leading company in the design of RFID UHF readers. The iRFID10x RFID engines support the EPC C1 G2 and ISO 18000-6C protocols as well as are CE and FCC certified.
“The availability of the Extronics UHF RFID product range is a very good news in the intrinsically safe and explosion proof market” said Stefano Coluccini, CMO at CAEN RFID, “From now on, installing RFID in hazardous areas will be as easy as in any other industrial environment.”
