How MobileView Enterprise RTLS Visibility Software Scales Across Industrial Sites

As industrial sites grow more complex, RTLS (Real Time Location System) visibility systems need to do more than track people and assets. They need to scale across different environments, infrastructures, and operational requirements, including  potentially explosive atmospheres.

In the second part of our MobileView Enterprise RTLS Visibility Software Q&A series, we speak with Tom Hobson, Software Engineer, about how MobileView can be deployed, maintained and scaled across large or complex hazardous area industrial sites. This Q&A looks at beacon infrastructure, cloud and local deployment options, multi-site scalability, and how MobileView can be tailored to suit different site requirements without compromising performance.

Q: What makes MobileView scalable?

A: MobileView is highly configurable and designed to support enterprise-wide deployments, with robust event handling and data management across multiple sites. This allows organizations to expand the system as their operations grow without compromising performance.

Q: How can MobileView be deployed?

A: MobileView is typically cloud-based, with the cloud environment operating securely behind organizational firewalls. However, the platform is flexible and can also be deployed locally, including air-gapped (not connected to the internet) installations for high-security environments such as custodial institutions.

The system can also support offshore deployments, with some backend processing managed onshore depending on operational requirements.

Q: Can MobileView be tailored to different infrastructures?

A: Yes. Because every site and organization has different infrastructure requirements, MobileView can be tailored to fit existing systems and operational needs. Extronics engineers deployments to minimize infrastructure costs, maximize performance and streamline implementation.

Q: How large can MobileView deployments be?

A: MobileView is already deployed across multiple countries, tracking tens of thousands of assets on some sites. This demonstrates the platform’s ability to support large, complex industrial operations while maintaining reliable performance.

Q: How is the beacon infrastructure maintained?

A: Extronics BLE beacons are designed for long-term operation, typically providing more than five years of battery life under normal conditions. Battery status can also be monitored through the system, allowing maintenance teams to proactively manage beacon health and plan replacements without disrupting operations.

MobileView Enterprise RTLS Visibility Software is designed to support complex industrial environments, from single-site deployments to large-scale, multi-site operations. With flexible deployment options, configurable infrastructure and long-term  maintenance support, MobileView can scale with changing operational needs.
