Extronics launch new iSHIELD Lone Worker Protector App

Increased safety for workers in hazardous areas, leveraging smart mobile devices.

Extronics today announced the launch of their new iSHIELD Lone Worker Protector App. The iSHIELD app integrates seamlessly with AeroScout MobileView software, allowing for real-time monitoring of all workers from a single interface.

Almost every day, there are reports of injuries to workers in hazardous areas; sometimes, even fatalities.  In an emergency situation, the time taken to respond can make the difference between life and death. The iSHIELD Lone Worker Protector App is specifically designed to improve this emergency response time. As well as raising an alert if the worker should suffer an impact, fall, or unexpectedly stop moving, the GPS tracking system means that a rescue team can go straight to where they’re needed. Alerts can also be triggered manually, so a worker in need of assistance can be reassured that back up is swiftly on its way.

The iSHIELD Lone Worker Protector App is compatible with Android smartphones. If the smartphone is certified for use in ATEX and IECEx Zones 1, 2, 21, and 22, workers in hazardous areas can carry iSHIELD protection with them in a convenient and lightweight package. What’s more, the app functions even when the phone is in standby mode, reducing power consumption and enabling iSHIELD to continue running throughout long shifts. Additionally, iSHIELD settings are fully customisable on each device, so the app can be completely tailored to meet individual user requirements.

“The wellbeing of workers in hazardous areas can be difficult to monitor,” says John Hartley, Managing Director of Extronics. “The iSHIELD Lone Worker Protector App enables live updates on the whereabouts and condition of these workers, so is a great way to support industry best practices for safety.”
