New iTAG500 Range of Intrinsically Safe UHF RFID Tags

News

The first products of the global agreement between Extronics and Omni-ID, these new tags are designed to improve asset management and streamline business processes.

Manchester, UK. 5th January 2012.  Extronics, a leading designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment, today announced the launch of the iTAG500 range of intrinsically-safe passive UHF RFID Tags designed to extend efficient logistic and maintenance routines into hazardous process areas.  These tags are the first products of the global agreement between Extronics and Omni-ID and have been developed using Omni-ID’s unique patented plasmonic structure which produces market leading performance.

From improving asset utilisation and management, to safety, compliance and supply chain operations, the iTAG500 range provides RFID solutions that fit many business needs and integrates easily into most process systems. A key advantage of Omni’s plasmonic structure is that it provides excellent performance on all surfaces including on-metal and near liquid.  With extremely long read range – up to 35 metres – and both ATEX & IECEx certification, the iTAG500 range is the ideal solution for hazardous process areas.

The launch of the new range means that Extronics is now to offer a complete range of Personnel & Asset tracking solutions for hazardous environments. “We have recently experienced a dramatic upsurge of enquiries from leading companies seeking effective logistical and tracking solutions for hazardous areas” said John Hartley, M.D. Extronics. With the high quality iTAG500 range, Extronics can now offer both passive & active RFID solutions, as well as the ability to create a safe underlying wireless infrastructure.”
