The ATEX Directive has increased the demand for bespoke solutions in many process industries, particularly oil and gas, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical. Such industries often have specialist applications where standard products on the market are unsuitable for use in hazardous areas, or don’t fully meet the customer’s requirements.

Our premises are designed to provide an ideal production environment and include a broad range of CNC, milling, and drilling equipment, as well as other associated machinery. This state-of-the-art functionality enables Extronics to provide a comprehensive, flexible, and responsive service for both standard and bespoke engineering requirements.

Bespoke engineering solutions

The Extronics engineering team possesses the technical know-how and practical experience necessary to create bespoke engineering solutions based upon the various concepts of protection in hazardous environments.

Every application, regardless of complexity, is supported by a comprehensive documentation portfolio including ATEX certificates, EC declarations of conformity, and safety manuals, as well as all of the mechanical drawings and documents produced during the project. Mechanical drawings are produced in 3D using Solidworks, making it possible to realise solutions quickly and accurately in a format that’s easily understood by both customer and suppliers.

Explosion proof enclosures

Thanks to the Extronics team’s expertise, a range of Ex d solutions are available as standard products – dramatically reducing both lead time and production costs – as well as part of bespoke solutions relating to our wireless, tracking, and back up power products. They’re available in a variety of sizes to suit every purpose, with a choice of either hinged (EJB) or threaded (GUB) lids. There’s also the option of aluminium alloy or 316L stainless steel, for maximum durability.

Uninterruptible power supplies

The iUPS range protects critical equipment, such as instrumentation or control systems, in the event of a power failure. The industry-leading iUPS101’s modular design allows for maximum flexibility of use without sacrificing any reliability. Coupled with the iBATT range of hazardous area certified battery enclosures, these provide powerful and dependable solutions suitable for a variety of locations.

OEM certification, training, and production

Extronics is also able to offer a re-engineering service to OEMs. Using our many years of experience in developing products for hazardous areas, we provide a fully certified version of your standard safe area product. If required, this can even include the contract manufacture of the product.
