Job Role: Electronics Engineer

Salary: £45-£55k level dependent on experience

Location: Middlewich, Cheshire

The Role

Reporting into the Engineering Director, you will be working as part of a team who will be developing our next generation digital electronic products which will underpin Extronics’ exciting growth plans for the future:

• Electronic circuit design, component ratings and selection, schematic capture and prototype testing/debugging using ARM architecture

• Battery power IOT devices where low power usage is important
• Knowledge of wireless design including BLE, WiFi, LoRa, GPS, LTE
• Working closely with other team members using concurrent engineering practices and ground-up New Product Introduction processes to deliver products to meet exacting market requirements whilst meeting cost, time and quality targets.
• Managing products through 3rd party certification in a highly regulated environment
• Support to the production department for product introduction into manufacture.

• Tracking and independent research of relevant technologies, techniques, regulatory standards which will support the next generations of Extronics’ products.

Essential Skills & Experience

• A minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience working in a product development role, supported by a degree in an Electronics related discipline.
• PCB design and layout experience, ideally using Altium.
• Experience of product design within an R&D department using formal development processes.
• Design verification, design prototyping and test, product validation and approvals against relevant international standards.

• Understanding of manufacturing techniques e.g. Design for Manufacture, Design for Test.
• Knowledge of CE marking directives, e.g. EMC, RED etc.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Knowledge and experience RF, BLE and Wi-Fi circuit design with onboard antenna design.
• Knowledge of design for ATEX, IECEx, NEC 500/505

• Knowledge of intrinsically safe design concepts.
• Knowledge and experience of embedded firmware would be advantageous.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Obtaining product approvals through 3rd party certification labs (such as EMC, LVD, ATEX, UL);
• Working in an ISO 9001 quality environment.

• Our office is based in Middlewich and you will be employed on a permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week with the ability to work flexible hours and location around your home life. Our standard policy is 2 days in the office and the other three are the choice of the individual / needs of the business
