Mariner topside modules sail away with Extronics UPS on board
5 topside modules, destined for the Mariner oil field to the east of Shetland, have started the long journey from South Korea to Scotland – with two Extronics UPS systems on board each module.
Our customer wanted to ensure back up power to keep their critical Blowout Prevention Systems working in the event of an emergency. Extronics engineered two bespoke ATEX Zone 1 solutions, based on the Extronics iUPS101 and iBATT100, but tailored to suit these specific applications to ensure high performance.
For Cameron, via Stella Maris and our US Sales Partner Exloc Instruments, we supplied an ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 Ex d Insulation Monitoring enclosure and ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 AC Bypass/Insolation enclosure, including iSOLATE-CTs for monitoring the outgoing lines of the AC Distribution Enclosure. We alos supplied a 4KVA safe area transformer in a sheet steel enclosure.
For Rockwell, we supplied a ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 UPS system that offered 2 hours of back up time at 1KVA, with 230 input and 120 output. This UPS System assembly was supplied on a frame with AC Bypass, DC Isolation, and Insulation Monitoring.
