Extronics is delighted to announce the launch of their latest development, the iWAP XN3 Zone 2/Division 2 Universal Wireless Enclosure System. The iWAP XN3 is a safe, reliable way to use the latest wireless technologies in ATEX and IECEx Zone 2 and 22 and North American Class I, II Division 2 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
The iWAP XN3 provides maximum flexibility. You can choose any wireless technology from any vendor – including Wi-Fi access points, LTE routers, UHF RFID readers, IoT gateways including LoRa, WiHART, or ISA100, and more. The iWAP XN3 is also available in four standard sizes to give you the most space-saving solution that meets your technical needs; Extronics’ engineers will review the wireless technology and operational requirements to recommend the most effective size for each application.
“The iWAP XN3 really is an innovation for deploying wireless technology economically in hazardous areas,” says John Hartley, Founder and Executive Chairman of Extronics. “We’ve applied all the knowledge we’ve gained providing hazardous area wireless solutions since 2005, improving features based on feedback from our customers. As a result, the iWAP XN3 is a high-performance system that makes Zone 2 and Division 2 wireless networking very cost-effective.”
The iWAP XN3’s patent-pending enclosure design is thermally engineered for maximum heat dissipation, allowing it to be used in high temperature environments. Thanks to Extronics’ iSOLATE technology, you can use non-certified simple apparatus antennas for a wider choice of options and easy antenna installation, whilst the external junction box provides a practical way to use simple Ex e or NPT glands as well as armoured cabling.
Made from marine-grade aluminium and finished with a durable epoxy powder coating, the iWAP XN3 is designed for outdoor installation in harsh industrial environments. It’s IP66 and NEMA 4 rated too, able to withstand exposure to the elements.
Overall, the iWAP XN3 is the best-in-class way to deploy your choice of wireless infrastructure into your Zone 2 and Division 2 hazardous areas.
