The Challenger PC terminal provides operators in the plant with a full function PC interface for displaying and operating any software running on a conventional IBM compatible PC or UNIX box with VGA/PS2 connections. The intrinsically safe system can be installed in Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous areas meaning the software application can easily be installed right next to the process. The applications are many and include running SCADA and DCS software or data gathering and management information systems. Being a PC Terminal and not a PC means that you are buying a future proof solution as you are free to upgrade your hardware and software on your own standard PC's.

The Challenger PC Terminal consists of attractive and rugged panel mount modules, a display module, a keyboard module and a pointing device module. They can be fitted into any standard industrial enclosure. A standard IP65 field mounted unit is also available consisting of a choice of stainless steel enclosure with the display module and keyboard/mouse module preinstalled in our factory.

The display, keyboard and mouse are connected to your standard PC located in the safe area via a Transmission card using a standard 4 pair STP data cable. No hardware or software is installed on your PC - just plug into the VGA output, keyboard and mouse ports.

A second display, keyboard and mouse may be connected to the PC in the safe area, so the host PC can be used in the control room as well as on the plant. Also up to four Challenger Terminals may be connected to the same PC meaning large savings can be enjoyed by reducing the number of software licences and PC hardware that is required. This solution allows the PC to be controlled by any of the remote terminals. A mobile version is also available that can be moved around the plant and plugged into power and wall sockets at the point of use.
