EEx e plugs are constructed from polyamide 66 or brass. They comprise of a male threaded shaft with a lipped head which includes a hexagon head recess to allow for fitting and removal. Beneath the head is a nitrile O ring which when compressed provides a seal to the plug. The standard range of threads is M16 to M75 x 1.5, however ET – BS31:1940(1979), NPT – ANSI/ASME:1983, BSP – BS21:1985 and PG – DIN 40430:1971 are also available. EEx d plugs are constructed from brass, steel, or stainless steel and have two design options, a threaded shaft with an hexagonal head or a threaded shaft with an hexagonal head recess to allow for fitting and removal of the plug. The standard range of threads is M16 to M75 x 1.5., however ET – BS31:1940(1979), NPT – ANSI/ASME:1983, BSP – BS21:1985 and PG – DIN 40430:1971 are also available.
