The BA327C instrument is loop powered but only induces a 1V drop which allows it to be installed in series with almost any 4-20mA loop. The main application of the programmable BA327C is to display a measured variable or control signal. The zero and span of the display are independantly adjustable so that the indicator can be calibrated to display any linear variable represented by a 4-20mA signal, such as temperature, pressure, level or actuator position.

For non-linear variables an optional 16 point lineariser enables the BA327C to display non-linear variables in linear engineering units, and two optional alarms can control hazardous or safe area loads. Back lighting is available as an option to improve readability in poorly illuminated areas. When used with a weighing system an optional tare function can be provided.
