iCAM501 - Free Software Upgrade

Welcome to the iCAM501 Software upgrade page. THIS IS NOT FOR THE iCAM501 ULTRA. On this page you will find all the information required to install the latest software to your camera. The new software will significantly improve the picture quality from the iCAM501 and is relatively straightforward to install. However, should you experience any problems then, in the first instance, email us info@extronics.com with details of the problem and we will try to reply within 24 hours - excluding weekends.
Key new features in iCAM501 software release 11.07.11
- Variable flash brightness
- Improved image blurring analysis
- Apple OS X compatibility fix
There are 2 versions of the 11.07.11 release, one of which is intended for Apple OS X users. However, the installation software requires a PC running Windows XP/Vista/7 i.e. the upgrade process must be done on a Windows PC after which the camera can used with an Apple computer.
Before installing the iCAM501 firmware upgrade please make sure that you have downloaded the appropriate installer to a suitable location on your PC. Next, install a fresh set of batteries in your iCAM501 to ensure power is not lost during the upgrade and ensure that you have ready the USB data cable supplied with the camera. Finally, read the "iCAM501 Software Upgrade Guide" thoroughly and follow the step by step instructions.
