Extronics, a leading supplier and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof electrical and electronic equipment, announces that its wireless network for hazardous environments has been chosen by Evonik Degussa Seal Sands to improve overall efficiency in its Seal Sands, UK based plant. Evonik Degussa Seal Sands required a robust and cost effective measure to calculate the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of their critical plant equipment in "real time". By installing Extronics' intrinsically safe WLAN Evonik Degussa Seal Sands has extended quick, efficient assessment of OEE into the extreme environments and zone 1 hazardous areas found in its plant.

The iLITE300 is a Zone 1 portable light which can be supplied with direct cable entries or fitted with plugs/ sockets to allow luminaires to be instantly linked in series (plug and play).

Powered by a Firetide HotPort 6000 all nodes have multiple Ethernet ports for connecting network devices or other networks to the wireless mesh. iWAP200 mesh nodes provide up to 70 Mbps throughput and operate at 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz (U.S. public safety licensed band), or 5 GHz. Depending on the model, iWAP200 nodes are equipped with either single or dual radios, operating at 400 mW.
